Overview of Acne and about its treatment

Acne is a hazard. It isn't something that can't be tackled though. Loads of products for acne skin treatment exist around. We may classify products for acne skin care into 3 specific categories –

* Preventive or general acne skin care products
* Over-the-counter specialist products for acne skin care
* On-prescription products for skin care.

The general goods of acne skin care are the ones that are used as test of acne prevention. Those include cleansers, removers of make-up and similar items that aim to eliminate acne. In the true sense, these items for acne skin care are just the ones that should be part of your everyday routine anyway. Some of these are however more targeted to act as a treatment of acne skin care. These products for acne skin care work against the causes of acne, e.g. reducing sebum / oil output and preventing skin pores from being clogged. Basically, these items for acne skin care prevent the oil from getting stuck in pores and hamper the growth of bacteria contributing to acne. Exfoliation products such as skin peels are also included in the general acne skin care products. These work towards removing dead skin cells, thereby reducing the risk of pore-clogging and growing bacteria.

There are also advanced products for acne skin care that are available over-the-counter, i.e. without a prescription being needed. Which include products such as disappearing creams that remove the extra oil from the skin. Most of these drugs for acne skin care are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both enemies of the bacteria (and thus acne). You will start with a product that has lower benzoyl peroxide concentration (e.g. 5 percent) to see how it reacts to your skin. Moisturizers based on alpha hydroxy acid are also popular as products for the treatment of the acne skin. Before you zero-in on the acne skin care product which is good for you, you may have to try others. You can call a dermatologist if anything seems to fit.

Acne skin care items on-prescription are the ones that a dermatologist prescribes. These could include ointments that can be applied to the area affected, or oral antibiotics, or even some topical medication. Dermatologist might also suggest a minor surgical procedure to remove the pustule content. Never try squeezing or doing this on your own though, it can lead to permanent skin damage. Your doctor can also recommend a hormone-based medication (since acne is also known to cause hormonal changes). In certain cases these products for acne skin care are considered to be very effective.

Yeah, it's not that difficult to handle acne with all those acne skin care products.
