Importance of 12 b vitamin


The b12 vitamin is one of the essential b vitamins for maintaining a healthy body. Also known as Cobalamin, the processes need the b12 vitamin to turn the carbohydrates, fats and proteins from food into energy. b12 also, more significantly, helps to keep the red blood cells healthy, thereby preventing heart disease and maintaining the immune system at its maximum level. Therefore, b12 is used to establish protective shielding of all nerve cells within the body.

12 B has the most important function in creating healthy red blood cells. Both cells require 12 b however in order to keep them alive. Among others, it is the white blood cells that need 12 b to help ensure the immune system works properly. In addition, all nerve cells in the body require 12 b to form their protective fatty coating. This is true for all the nerves especially for those in the brain in particular. When 12 b is not enough to build it protective layer then the brain will not function properly.

Interestingly, the amount of 12 b required by the body is relatively small but is frequently needed. On its own, though, 12 b isn't enough as the body can not easily absorb it. To help the body absorb 12 b the stomach generates an intrinsic factor that makes it possible to consume more of the 12 b. 12 B is present only in animal feeds such as liver, eggs, fish and meat, but most people consume far more than their daily recommended 12 b. This is not a problem since only about half of the 12 b consumed can be absorbed by the body. It is also worth noting that the 12 b can be recycled by the body which reduces the impact of a 12 b deficiency. Nevertheless, if they do not consume any animal products that contain 12 b, strict vegetarians or vegans would probably require supplements of 12 b.

If the body does not have enough of 12 b, anaemia is the most obvious symptom. This is obviously because there isn't enough 12 b to make healthy red blood cells. Anaemia may also be caused by the body's failure to create enough intrinsic factor to help absorb the 12 b found in the food consumed. Once a person reaches 50 the body tends to make less intrinsic factor and this will result in less than 12 b being absorbed and 12 b supplements may be required. Children are also at risk of anaemia, as they may not eat the food that contains 12 b. Pregnant women need more than 12 b to grow properly because the baby absorbs 12 b during pregnancy.
