Low Carb Diet



In recent years, there has been much talk about the importance of cutting carbohydrates, or carbs, out of a normal diet. I can't tell you how many articles I've read and how many news clips I've been watching about a low-carb eating plan. Frankly, I am a bit tired of hearing all the reasons I should change what I eat. I am sick to hear all the consequences if I don't make those changes.



So I don't want to try to convince someone... In recent years there has been much talk of the importance of cutting carbohydrates, or carbs, out of a normal diet. I can't tell you how many posts I've read and how many news clips I've watched on a low-carb eating plan's benefits. Frankly, I am a little tired of hearing all the excuses I can change what I eat. I am scared to know all the implications if I don't make those changes. So I don't want to try to convince anyone who reads to switch to a low-carb diet.



I just want to share that change to a low-carb diet worked entirely for me and my lifestyle. I can't remember exactly what led me to take the plunge into the low-carb world. Maybe I've just been tired of being overweight and feeling lethargic all the time. I think it's true that life needs to get really bad and we've got to want to make changes before we actually do. My physical health was getting bad enough I really wanted to make changes.



So I spent a few afternoons at my local bookstore and came away with a couple of books that seemed to be the most fair and helpful at the end of my search. One of them was on low-carb heading. I was leery to go low-carb for one main reason: I liked a lot of carb-filled carbs and most foods. I liked to eat breads, pastries, sandwiches, cookies and many other things that were carb-friendly. I knew this would really alter my diet if I tried to cut back on carbs. It took me a couple of days to debate before I realized that yes, I wanted to try the low-carb plan and see if it did work.

I began my trial of low-carb eating by going through my pantry and refrigerator and tossing out everything that went against what the low-carb book claimed I was supposed to eat. I was shocked to see how little was left. Only then did I see genuinely how unbalanced my diet was. I went to the store, replacing the carbs with fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean protein.

I picked a few whole-grain items to satisfy the small amount of carbs I was supposed to eat. That marked the start of a 60-day trial eating a low-carb diet. In the space of days I was shocked by how different I felt and how my cravings had changed. Sixty days after I started my low-carb diet, I was much lighter, full of more energy, and in a decade I looked better than I had. So, for what it's worth, take this. I don't say you should make a low-carb eating plan. I'm just saying that doing a low-carb plan has changed my life radically.
